In the industrial applications, the use of anaerobic digestion to generate biogas is increasingly recognized as a valuable method of using waste streams to generate renewable energy.
The biogas produced can be purified and introduced directly into the grid, or it can be converted into electricity from a generator using a combined heat and power engine . This also provides an opportunity to generate thermal energy in the form of hot water.
